“IN IN IN,” the hard-hitting new tune from Zebra Katz is a dark ballroom masterpiece you can’t help but vogue to.
For years, the music media have asked Zebra Katz about his relationship to queer rap––“oh it can’t be true? / you ain’t really into dudes?” he spits on “IN IN IN”––but here he goes beyond any label or genre. He’s the architect of his artistic domain, unafraid to tackle social issues, from black male subjectivity (“we n****s gotta fight”) to sexuality.
Co-produced by Tony Quattro, “IN IN IN” is Zebra Katz’s first new music since collaborating with Gorillaz on their Humanz album and world tour. In the meantime, he has been making his mark, not just in music, but in art, TV, and fashion. His tracks have graced Rick Owens’ runways and soundtracked Comedy Central’s Broad City and Netflix’s Dear White People. As a live performer, the New Yorker has been stunning audiences around the world, appearing alongside Vince Staples, and Pusha T, opening for Azealia Banks, Lana del Rey, and Die Antwoord, and taking over stages at Art Basel and MoMA PS1.

All the tracks are great but Stepper is the standout for me! pounding syncopated kicks, rolling handdrums and playful sample work, dancefloor destroyer. Jack G.
